Walker Receives Outstanding Colorado Woman in Engineering Award

Greenwood Village, Colorado - February 3, 2015 - Valerie Walker, vice president and senior project manager at Merrick & Company, received the 2015 Outstanding Colorado Woman in Engineering award. The award is given by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado (ACEC Colorado) to recognize women in engineering that demonstrate significant success in leadership, major projects and accomplishments, leadership in the industry, organization and community involvement, education mentoring and involvement, and technical innovations.<br />
Walker has been with Merrick since 2001, leading project teams on various complex projects for the firm’s Nuclear Services & Technology business unit. As a vice president she is responsible for all of Merrick’s commercial nuclear projects, including nuclear power, nuclear fuel cycle, reactor technology, medical isotope, non-government R&D, and international projects. She is nationally and internationally recognized for her outstanding work in engineering and is involved with several organizations throughout the community as well as within the engineering industry. Walker holds a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado.<br />
Walker will be recognized during a formal ceremony, hosted in conjunction with the ACEC Colorado general meeting, on Feb. 24 from noon-1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Country Club.
