Development Continues on the SEPRL Modernization Project

Merrick & Company’s Life Sciences team is finalizing the bridging documents for the design of the $158 million Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory (SEPRL) modernization project located on the SEPRL campus in Athens, GA. Modernization will involve new construction and renovation of existing facilities on USDA’s premier poultry research campus, including BSL-3, ABSL-3 and ABSL-3Ag spaces for work with infectious avian diseases and other biosafety laboratories, brooding and breeding facilities and administrative/office and support facilities.
SEPRL is owned and operated by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service. SEPRL scientists conduct research to provide scientific solutions to national and international exotic, emerging and endemic poultry diseases. Its comprehensive program focuses on research, diagnostics, disease prevention and control, including predicting and controlling highly contagious poultry diseases. The aging research campus is well over 60 years old and will be modernized to meet current and future operations and research needs.
