Merrick Announces New Manager of Biosafety and Biosecurity

Ryan Burnette, Ph.D., has recently joined Merrick & Company ( as a senior project manager with the firm’s life sciences business unit. Working out of Washington DC, Burnette will focus on expanding delivery of Merrick’s services to the Biosafety and Biosecurity industry, for customers including US and international government agencies, academia, and private industry.

Burnette brings nearly a decade of experience in international program management related to biosecurity and biosafety. He most recently comes from AT-RISK International, LLC, where he led a significant portion of an international biological threat reduction program. His leadership skills and professional experience come from the development and implementation of numerous laboratory and scientific programs worldwide. He is also the editor and author of one the industry’s authoritative volumes, “Biosecurity: Understanding, Assessing, and Preventing the Threat,” available through John Wiley and Sons, Inc. Burnette earned his doctorate in biochemistry from Virginia Tech University and his post-doctoral fellowship in molecular endocrinology from Vanderbilt University, School of Medicine.
