With Deepest Regrets, Merrick & Company Announces the Recent Passing of Mark Henline, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, COLORADO – September 11, 2017 – It is with deepest regret that Merrick & Company announces the passing of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Mark Henline. Throughout his career, Mark was the consummate financial professional—doing everything by the numbers. Outside of his work, Mark had a sense of adventure and appreciation for everything Colorado has to offer. Mark died September 7, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, CO, at the age of 57, following a hang-gliding accident.
Mark joined Merrick in 2006, and became the firm’s first Chief Financial Officer in 2008. Most recently, he served as the firm’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He also served on the company’s Finance and Stock Committees. Mark made his home in Elizabeth, CO and is survived by his wife, Peggy.
“Our deepest sympathies go to Peggy and Mark’s family. Mark was a valued member of the Merrick family, and his loss will be felt deeply by his colleagues and friends at Merrick,” said David Huelskamp, Merrick Chairman and CEO. “Mark’s professionalism and thoroughness led Merrick through many initiatives and acquisitions over the past decade. His leadership and dedication will be greatly missed.”
Mark was born in Buffalo, NY on April 26, 1960. In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is also survived by his sister Sandy Wood and her husband, Paul Wood. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Alfred University in Western New York with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Mark began his finance career with Price Waterhouse in 1982 in Buffalo, NY. He was a CPA in New York State, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Design Finance Officers Group.
“Mark was the ultimate financial professional,” said Christopher Sherry, Merrick’s President and COO. “We’ve lost more than our CFO. We have lost a friend and co-worker who made so many contributions to people’s lives, both inside Merrick and in the community.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Merrick’s corporate headquarters, 5970 Greenwood Plaza Blvd., Greenwood Village, CO. In honor of Mark and his love of adventure, the dress will be casual.
