Merrick & Company is an employee- owned, multidisciplinary professional services firm headquartered in Aurora, CO. The company specializes in engineering and architectural design, facility and equipment design-build, procurement, construction management, and geospatial services.

Merrick provides professional services for its diverse client base that includes federal, state, municipal, university, and private sector clients, as well as industrial and commercial customers, both domestically and internationally. Founded by Sears Merrick in 1955 as a civil engineering and survey firm, the company surveyed and designed many of the Rocky Mountain Region’s largest and most complex electrical transmission and distribution projects.

By the 1970s Merrick had developed capabilities in architecture and multidisciplinary engineering. In the 1980s the firm added core competencies in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), chemical process engineering, nuclear facility, and custom equipment design. Today, Merrick operates from seven offices located in Aurora and Colorado Springs, CO; Los Alamos and Albuquerque, NM; Atlanta, GA; Ontario, Canada; and Guadalajara, Mexico. Technology Systems

Merrick’s Technology Systems group provides engineering, architecture, procurement, custom fabrication, construction management, and other professional services for DOE and DOE-funded clients, as well as commercial nuclear, pharmaceutical, semi-conductor, and non-biological high-tech industries.

Military & Government Facilities

This business unit provides fullservice multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, construction management, and operations and maintenance services to federal, state, municipal, and commercial clients including the US Air Force, US Army, and National Guard. It specializes in mission-critical, laboratory, training, maintenance, and quality-of-life facilities.

Fuels & Energy

Merrick’s Fuels & Energy department provides engineering, construction management, and development services for biomass conversion-toethanol projects. It also provides consulting services to regional oil and gas clients and local regulated utilities.

Life Sciences

Merrick’s Life Sciences business unit supports laboratory and research & development projects with a focus on high containment. Specialties include facility design and fabrication of specialty equipment.

Strategic Federal Programs

Merrick’s Strategic Federal Programs group provides responsive, high-quality services for specialty mechanical equipment industries including nuclear, chemical, biological, and high security. These services include traditional full-service engineering and architecture, as well as designbuild, construction management, and program management services. It serves both private and mission-critical clients including municipal, state, and federal clients such as USPS, US Dept. of Interior, US Department of Homeland Security, US State Department, and Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

Civil Infrastructure

Our Civil Infrastructure department provides civil engineering solutions and related professional services for public and private clients. Typical clients include municipal public works agencies, quasi-municipal agencies (districts), state agencies, private developers of land and infrastructure, special/metro districts, and residential and commercial development projects, primarily in Colorado.

GeoSpatial Solutions

Merrick’s GeoSpatial Solutions business unit provides innovative and highly accurate geospatial data services and products including photogrammetric mapping, digital ortho processing, surveying, GIS application development, Web-based data hosting and maintenance, and Internet mapping services to clients throughout North, Central, and South America. Technologies include aerial and satellite image acquisition, LiDAR (Light Imaging Detection and Ranging) acquisition and processing, LiDAR software developer/sales (MARS®), data fusion with hyper-spectral and LiDAR surface models, and GIS database and planimetric design.
