Microbial Biomethane Conversion Project

Campbell County, Wyoming

Merrick provided complete technology integration services for Ciris Energy’s In-Situ biochemical conversion facility. The facility uses chemical nutrients to convert coal to natural gas. Merrick provided process engineering, cost estimating, detailed engineering, procurement and support during construction for the first of a kind facility.

Water Balance and Recycle

The process is designed to recycle water all water used in a proprietary process to generate biomethane from an underground coal seam using naturally occurring micro-organisms. The facility recycles and injects water, adding nutrients to enhance the rate of natural anaerobic digestion.
