Merrick developed the design, specifications, and detailed cost estimate for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for the fabrication and installation of three modular laboratories to be located in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. The modular facilities are designed in accordance with the CFIA FADDL design guidelines.
The design uses a modular approach in which the shop-fabricated components of the structure will meet both US and Canadian transportation regulations. The concept uses directional airflow for containment with an integral, single-pass air handler and two exhaust fans, with one fan dedicated for the operation of a hard-ducted Class II, Type B2 biological safety cabinet.
